STORY
In 2009 Masked Virus came to life when Bri began experimenting with photography, fine art, and character creation in hopes to capture realism. Over time she started to achieve a refined hand at each medium to create a portrait more meaningful and real than the last.

Soon 2015 rolled around and the itch to create realism never ceased. The discovery of stop motion brought light to the patience it would take to create something intriguing. Several rounds of venetian half masks were created, but soon after ditched due to mundane plotting and visuals.

Then "Noah" was created. The first full face mask properly curated with original character attachment to its design. A form which captured her attention and commitment to the world of masks.
"The idea of wearing a mask was out of the question."
There was never an intent to wear masks, just as an art form. She thought the identity of a mask and the practitioner were separate. It wasn't until producing some more full face masks that she decided to try them on and finally understood the appeal of wearing them.
Over the course of 7 years she studied the many forms of artistic blueprinting with the intent to create products with soul. Those years offered knowledge into the work of mask practitioners.

Many of the traditional masquerade styles are a heavy influence in Masked Virus's designs. Being based out of Chicago has a heavy role in our composition. From graffiti filled alley ways, to the parks among the hustle and bustle. Art is a constant. Bri found it overwhelming, but took light of the situation and transformed it into textural curation.

Now each mask is based off of texture with an emotion as its "backing." Masked Virus takes things like marble and brings out what "cold to the touch," would be if it were a living being.
Our signature styling is embedding the masks with crystals along the nose, and/or accenting other facial features.

Female full face masks feature a lip crystal originating from Bri's lip scar as a physical identifier of the practitioners work.
Our Tools
Serinity and Preciosa Crystals
Serinity and Preciosa crystals are made in Austria and are becoming widely known for their sparkling brilliance and high-quality cut. These crystals are made from glass, which is then cut into precise shapes and coated with a special metallic chemical to create a highly reflective surface.
Resin
Our resin castings are not only tough and durable but they are moisture and solvent resistant. We make sure that every crystal, paint stroke, and top coat is securely placed. So all you have to do is look your best for any occasion.
